With more than 20 years in the automotive industry, Sheldon Smith is one of the most experienced programming and calibration specialists on the Autel Remote Expert platform. His automotive roots run deep. His grandfather emigrated from England in the 1930s and founded a radiator shop that eventually grew into a full-service automotive repair center. Sheldon grew up around the family business, developing a passion for both vehicle technology and electronics from an early age.
As vehicles became more software-driven, Sheldon positioned himself at the forefront of the industry’s evolution. What began as diagnosing electrical wiring issues—especially for collision repair facilities—naturally progressed into module programming, coding, software flashing, and ADAS calibration.
Today, Sheldon helps technicians across North America complete complex programming and calibration jobs on nearly every major vehicle brand, including luxury and exotic vehicles. His most common Remote Expert sessions involve programming replacement modules after collision repairs, calibrating radar and camera systems, programming transmission and body control modules, and helping technicians work through communication and electrical issues.
